The village of Kirby Misperton in North Yorkshire lies within the Vale of Pickering and is situated about 4 miles south of Pickering by road and about 7½ miles north of Malton.

The village is within the Amotherby electoral ward of Ryedale district in the administrative area of North Yorkshire County Council. Kirby Misperton is in the Thirsk and Malton Parliamentary Constituency.

The population (from the 2011 census) is 370 with 159 occupied households (out of a total of 186 household spaces, 40 of which are caravans or mobile homes).

The electorate (as of June 2011) is 289.

The area for the civil parish is 722 hectares (1,784 acres).

Costa Beck, a tributary of the River Rye, forms the boundary to the east of the parish.

The neighbouring parishes are Barugh (Great and Little) to the west, Habton to the south, Pickering to the east, Marishes to the southeast and Normanby to the North.

The local church is dedicated to St Laurence and serves the ecclesiastical parish of Kirby Misperton, which also includes the villages of Great and Little Barugh, Great and Little Habton and Ryton.

Local services also include the methodist chapel, Post Office, Kirby Misperton Village Hall, the Ashfield Country Manor Hotel and the Coach House pub. The bus stop at the roundabout is on the 840 Coastliner bus service route which runs between Leeds and Whitby.

Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo is situated within the parish of Kirby Misperton.

Viking UK Gas Ltd have have a gas production well site at Alma Farm to the west of the village.
